ABOUT
“In beauty may I walk.” Navajo Indian Prayer
From an early age Julien McRoberts loved adventure and the thrill of exploration. As a kid she would rush home from school to throw on her skates and fly down the steep and winding streets of San Francisco -- the flip of her coin would dictate which direction to take off in. Twenty years later she found herself doing the same thing while on a long journey through India, heads to Rajasthan or tails to Kashmir, some things have not changed.
These experiences, along with moving to New York City a few years ago, have helped Julien find her true voice and in doing so, have helped her clients do the same. She is able to seek out the beauty in every location and situation, whether it is an abandoned town, old route 66 or a hidden gem in a busy city.
Today, after 12 years in business, Julien is a sought after photographer and storyteller who has worked with such notable clients as Jeff Bezos, The Georgia O’Keefe Museum, Marie Claire Magazine, Calvin Klein Home and more. She focuses on the authentic story that is being told through the picture and her unique use of light. Her photography allows the client to feel connected and transported to the eternity of the moment. For Julien, the best part about being a photographer is collaborating with her clients to visually illustrate their story. She is able to put the pieces together like a puzzle – ie... finding the perfect location, casting the right talent, procuring production crew, styling the site or product - it is in the details of these elements that a look unique to the brand is created and visually illustrated.
When she is not shooting and honing her craft, Julien can be found exploring obscure locations, cultural events, taking orders from her diva Chihuahua and diving into fashion in New York City. Julien is deeply committed to giving back and paying it forward. A portion of her proceeds help support animal welfare organizations in New Mexico and for children’s education in Africa.
