Mid Century America
Today, mid-century furnishings and pop culture are having resurgence. The 1950’s were a time when Americans were looking to the future with space travel, rock and roll was coming onto the scene, tiki bars and martinis were popular and the big American car was roaring down the highways. There was prosperity, hope and epic design.
Shooting at a mid-century location just makes me smile. From the cool, slick designs to wacky programmatic architecture. How do you not love a camera store where the building was made to look like a camera? What stands out is the uniqueness - think about how cool the old neon signs were. They were created for that individual business to be different…. sadly we have lost much of this in today’s culture but I am hopeful that will come back one day. This is exactly what I seek to capture through these images - Originality.
